Puerile, true, and soft spoken
So leave it there, and take the rest.
A Mother's love can stand the test
Dutifully rote even when broken
My love beats from a secret chest.
You've made for all a selfless nest
You've slept & wept, but now've awoken
So leave it there, and take the rest.
Now again, you must give your best
Fight for life, you've earned this token
My love beats from a secret chest.
Know this from your boy out West
Fear's furnace is not worth stokin'
So leave it there, and take the rest.
You have my strength in your quest
& A thousand more songs in your breast
My love beats from a secret chest
So leave it there, and take the rest.

horus8,
Ann is the best, I must agree with you there and she remains in my prayers each day. You have done an excellent job of making her smile. In fact, she told me about this poem so she is very proud of you hun. Very sweet, a side of you I am glad to have seen. Much love, Aimee

I like the form of this write... I think I've tried it once... lol.. and I believe you're the one that helped me. Anyways.. this poem was smooth flowing, and the rhyme didn't skip a beat. This is a different one than the many we've gotten for this contest...which is always good
. I enjoyed reading your poem, and thank you for entering.

When one's in Vegas, one gets used to the light. One might need it to stay warm later when one runs out of money. When in Rome, Roam.

Not too familiar with this form, but I sense that you've written a great example of it here. That it expresses such warmth and sweetness was icing on the cake. Good luck in the contest.
Thanks!

Oh, how lovely with the hearts on the side and a villanelle box. Take it you don't let this side out too much, eh? Chicks dig it though, seems. Hey, hope AnnD is cool don't know her.

I've added a word 'beat' .I like better now, I'm glad you love it,
Smile, all is well, these things happen, you'll rebound, and
take better care of yourself, right? Or do you need me to pester you, lol? Because I'm like the IRA, watch out. lol.

This was very thoughtful of you to do for Ann. I love her too and hope she feels better soon. Its beautiful and from the heart, and that makes it very special for her.

You do great justice to this form.... and it truly is beautiful.... A touching and sweet thing to do for AnnD... I don't know the details, but hopefully everything will turn out okay...

when you grace another poet with kind words the muses smile for you are granting a gift much like they grant unto you, and sharing your talent in a kind way for just cause....Artis

cool little write you got here, but does the title go with the contest
-
This is so tender and so heartfelt. It is very kind of you to encourage someone to feel better. Your softer side is perfect, and I love both sides of you my friend. You are a young man that a mother would be proud to hug. Excellent and I hope Ann D feels better. I haven't felt that great myself lately, had the flu. This poem lifts me! Thanks!
I know this is a villenelle and it is perfect in form and style!
Maybe wide-eyed is not familliar with this style of poetry, huh?
Very nice gesture and I am sure Ann D will love it!

Hi horus, old awkward here again! lol
A few questions first.
Was the & (instead or and) put in for the sake of the appearance of the piece. I ask because i like to read out loud and it don't make no difference there! lol.
I am not sure of the validity of 'dutifully rote' in grammar, but I'll accept it. Just didn't sound right to me. Am prepared to be wrong on this.
I dislike apostrophes at the end of a word as a shortener, but I know why you did it and it's a personal thing, so shorten on! lol
Did I like it? Yes. This is not my favourite form, but this was a nice example of it.
Cheers -
I always love when people leave a critical comment (and really half-assed ones at that) and can't even spell COURAGE properly. Sorry, I had to say something about that.
Now, about this poem:
It is splendid. AnnD is one of my favorite people. She told me that she has been having troubles here of late and is worried sick about it. I am glad to see she has the support of her friends here. You did great with this. I know she will love it. -
Lovely write horus8. I enjoyed the gentle touch that you penned throughout this piece. I can see the love for a mother and the plead for whatever strength to be found to surface and renew the struggle. I dont know whom it is to but it is a very nice write for them. Thanx for sharing and take care.
-
Might be why she's been so quiet today then, eh? Ok, thanks for lettin me know..and I hope she feels better.. and well..I always like to see the softer side of horus
-
Ann D, is not feeling well.
-
I think it's beautiful..donno for sure which ann this is for ..but it applies to many, doesn't it? ...
Beautiful.
