i tell him i'm happy
i tell him about how ron slipped in the mess hall
while doing the moonwalk
or how his pants tore later in the evening
i tell him i'm happy and he smiles -
a thin lawn that sprouts
after weeks of rain
so i continue telling him i'm happy
for my ex-boyfriend and best friend
for my brother's four-year long
relationship
i tell him i'm happy for gays
and lesbians
for all homosexuals in India
i tell him i'm happy about section 377
all of a sudden
he pauses
glares
and turns back to walk
the way he would
when beth says 99 isn't enough
on her math paper

"i tell him i'm happy and he smiles -

it is sometimes so hard when we have opposing views/beliefs than our parents.
i think we always have a few that are different. sometimes, i am sure it's a good thing though.
really awesome writing.

This is a very nice piece,
Very well written,
I understand it,
I am proud to say that not many people write happy poems,
But this is one of them that turned out great,
Keep up the writes,
Thank you for entering the contest and good luck to you.
