Elemental Senses

Let fire touch you on the tongue.
It has a special kind of taste.
Like cool spices from a song sung
Or heated words spoken in haste.

Let the wind hit you in the eyes.
It shows a special kind of scene.
Like a bright portrait of no lies
Or illusions meant to be mean.

Let the earth hit you on the skin.
It has a special sort of touch.
Like a soft, gentle, deserved win
Or pelts made by a cheater’s crutch.

Let water hit you in the ear.
It makes a special sort of sound.
Like splashes of friends coming near
Or floods of enemies around.

Let the elements hit your nose.
They all give off a special smell.
Like aromas only Love knows
Or odors only found in hell.

Speak kindly, don’t deceive, cheat not.
Basically, just get along.
Our five, plus four, sum up our lot.
Leave negatives where they belong.

Author notes

I’m gonna sound like a sap, but, straight up, everyone can always be just a little nicer.

I see the elements and our senses as real buddies. Both just loving life, living it and doing exactly what they’re supposed to... Until we screw it all up and make things suck.

I dunno. Whatever. Everyone should just do better and be better.

I loved the rhyme in this poem.
I am a fan of rhymed poems and you did this very well.
It definately had a nice flow to it.
You don't sound like a sap, but I do agree with you. Everyone could always be a little nicer, yet most people don't and aren't. Which is kind of sad.
This poem seemed kind of sad, but it also had some hope to it.
I really liked how you incorporated the elemetns with feelings and such. This was a wonderful poem and I very much enjoyed reading it.
I think I might bookmark this.
"Let the wind hit you in the eyes.
It shows a special kind of scene.
Like a bright portrait of no lies
Or illusions meant to be mean." For some reason, that is my favorite stanza. This poem has a lot of truth to it, and people should read this and then think about how they have been treating people. Who knows, it might change their life..or someone else's.
You did an amazing job.Keep up the awesome work. I look forward to reading more of your work.
