Goodbye

Some say the hardest thing to say is 'I Love You'
Some say it is 'Goodbye'.
But the hardest thing to say is not either or,
Its saying both at the same time.

When leafs and rain are falling,
And we stand here in the cold,
Just breathing in each other,
Not wanting to loosen this hold.

"We'll stand and fall together,
I'll never let you down"
Sometimes an oath is broken,
And fate must stand aground.

The memories are like gold,
Something most can never afford,
The lucky ones get tiny amounts,
The blessed get even more.

So when I say 'I Love You'
I mean it from the heart,
For every moment you gave me,
Was treasured from the start.

It began with a low point,
That happened in the dark,
It blossomed into a starlight,
That will always leave its mark.

So when I say 'Goodbye'
I don't mean it as forever,
Its simply a change in direction,
But you will leave me never.

Its that day of a pure union,
Of physical and non,
The day that my heart bleeds again,
For something I know is soon to be gone.

So when the hour draws closer,
The time just ticks away,
All memories brimming at the surface,
Tears can not be kept at bay.

So I hold you for the last time,
And I whisper in your ear,
You feel my drops of sadness,
As your fate becomes so clear.

Its then you have to say those things,
That hurt deep from the core,
Something so easily said,
As I simply walk out the door.

This time it cuts much further,
I feel it mounting within,
The very last time I can tell you,
How amazing you have been.

Thats all I need to say,
As I know that its not unspoken,
