Memories merge, and turn to muddy shades
Like paintings spoiled by angry children
Mix it all together
Purple into black and blue
Bruises on a wounded soul
Do not clean the brushes of bitterness
Let the world see
Let them see the tear stained past
Let them weep....
Let them now bear the shame of their blindness
Scribbles and swirls of bleeding beggars
Oh how we begged, you and I and ,and too many others
Abandoned blots, on the snowdrift landscape of society
Black Blemishes in pigtails
Broken little boys afraid to grow
They washed us away
Washed their hands of us
And the colours of our souls went down the drain
With the guilt,,, secrets swilled away
And your sorrow bleeds into mine
And mine is merged with yours
And his,,, and hers,,and theirs
And The tears of babies still to weep
Into the deafness,
They fall through the ribcage of my carcase
Where the maggots of apathy
Devoured dignity
And drip into the puddles of our failed humanity
Author notes
How many times will people turn away from the obvious
This is for all of those whos sorrow seeps into mine
Its time to stand up and say enough

The power and message of your poem blows me away, and takes my breath away. This kind of pain hits very close to home with me, and my heart aches deeply for you. Thanks for sharing and giving a voice to all those who do not have one. My best to you. Blessings, Patty

this was amazing. i really like your style. the way you phrase each stanza is brilliant. it's been a while since ive read anything at all, and for this to be one of my first reads in over a month. i was practically overwhelmed with for lack of better terms, darkness, of it. but i can assure you, that is not a bad thing. i think that reading this kind of got me wanting to write again. excellent write; never stop.

They will continue to turn away so long as doing so does not affect their lives. It sometimes takes a tragedy closer to home before they can understand that we are all truly connected. Any difference at all, any action taken, is far better than to have done nothing at all. Sometimes it is not a bad thing to use the not-very-subtle threat to make those around you understand that -it is enough!
Excellent write T, strong images, well placed.
Peace

Thanks Michael
seems silence is almost always the easier option
yeah the not so subtle threats,,in the end thats how my dad stopped hurting the next generation,, split up an entire family, but he knew beyond doubt that he would not harm my nieces as he harmed us
thanks Michael, im sending you big hugs

You are welcome. As you know, I'm pretty good with the "not so subtle threat" thing. We had to do the take a stand thing with a cousin and make it clear history would not repeat itself...not my daughters, I'll go to prison and your mother will cry.
Peace

Bloody Powerful Work!
This is probably one of the most powerful and thought invoking pieces I think that I have had the pleasure of reading since coming to AP. You beautifully described the pain that we as a human race share and have in common and ask probably the most important question of all, that being when are we going to stop being so callous toward one another and realize that in order for us to continue to thrive, we must make a conscious effort to be there for other people.
FANTASTIC WORK!!!

Thanks for making time to stop by and comment

turning away is so easy, unless you have been or sympathise with a victim it doesn't seem to cross the concience of another. why? a bitter world awaiting a bitter end, maybe.

-
-
ITS TRUE
there are way too many victims of failed humanity out there,,,,makes my skin crawl
a couple of years ago,, during my work with a family, i met a hild who was beaten daily, even the authorities turned a blind eye....why? apathy, fear,, laziness?
guess ill never know,,, the result is always the same tho,,, another broken spirit
kk the crazy lady should stop right
thanks hun for a great comment

T,
A beautiful piece of poetry, but I feel it is a peek into a troubled and bruised childhood. People don't want to get involved because of fear of the truth. It's easier to look straight through the problem. Many times those who do stand up to be heard become labeled a "problem". You're not alone sweetheart, many of us have been the pigtails or the broken little boy but somehow we survived it. It made me tough and you sweet. You are such a sweet soul my friend. Keep moving forward.
