Is it only my heart you chose to break?
With all of your empty ''I love you's''
And every single word you made sound so sweet.
The jagged edges of your eyes, that could be so harsh,
but turn so soft, melting me, melting me, until I'm nothing.
It's your complection, it draws me in,
then your reflection, that stays beneath my skin.
Your lies, so easy to believe,
The ones that stuck with me til the very end.
And so I'll echo with my mind
goodbye,
goodbye,
I'll let it reside, tears filling my eyes.
It wasn't enough when I loved you,
would give anything for you,
And now I'm your prisoner,
Forever trapped in a depth of sorrow and sadness
Too complex to understand.
Author notes
Well, I inspired this poem on someone I really loved. It's a tragic story, that I'd rather not talk about, but I'm sure some of you could relate.
I don't think it's my best poem, but, you be the judge of that. I hope it's up to everyone's standards.
