lip-sealed and half-sunk
love lists in shallow water
like little lichened stones
waiting for a rough rub
to clear away the bric and brack
warm hands and curved prayer-palms
lend hope to cold watery wait
where weft and braid
stretch out like living cords
against pulse and press
grave and gruesome grind
of inching seas retreating
leaping gratefully from a gangplank
was last resort and way to rock
away seemingly eons of endless ache
for yesterday’s ripe and roiling seas
that crashed your little ship
with me in it

This is wonderful story telling, the point of view reveals the human side of the adventure, when voyages become footnotes, and lives become troubled memories...PK

This just about took my breath away. Wonderful use of consonance keeps the poem glued together beautifully. -

I had to read this one out loud- such wonderful assonance and consonance, so nice to say- it lilts along. This is just beautiful.
Best wishes,
