Mrs. Redbird

Mrs. Redbird is one sweet lady,
With light brown feathers and a crest that matches.
Her beak is a light shade of red,
That makes her self a prize to be had.

Though Mrs. Redbird is small,
Her actions are mighty.
She protects the Mr. with a lot of her chatter,
That frightens the other birds and away they fly.

When Mrs. Redbird comes to the patio,
She flies down to the floor.
And while she patiently waits,
Mr. Redbird quietly eats and gets his fill.

When he is full and flies away,
Mrs. Redbird starts picking one seed at a time,
And flutters her wings to chase the intruders away.
Soon her wants are fulfilled and she goes to her mate.

What a beautiful sight,
Mother Nature and my friends.
The beautiful pair of redbirds,
Who give me so much delight.

It is hard for my friends to believe,
That these two feathered birds,
Could give little old me so much delight,
Just watching the redbirds enjoy their life.

But when the life span comes to an end,
Mr. Redbird is first to loose his crown.
Then I notice that his appetite is gone,
And his visits to the patio table become rare.

I become sad as now my hours are long.
But I give thanks for the happiness I’ve had,
Sharing the lives of God’s beautiful redbirds,
Coming to my table for their food and my love.
