Ode to Tiliqua scincoides scincoides (bomber and tiger)

oh my cold blooded reptiles,
gone thou art, for a day of warmth it was
and the heat of the sun, trapped through crystals surrounds
absorbed by the midnight hued home
heated thy humble castle to the warmth of the sun
good pets thou'est was, loyal and true
enjoyed eating snails, vegetable, but not in a stew
though rigor mortis did ensue
live, you did, for six months and more
and never were you a bore
bomber, the larger you were
o greedy one, o adventurous one
and tiger, smaller in stature, but no less in heart
careful and shy, yet friendly and fun

o tiliquia scinoides scinoides
o bomber and tiger
lived well you did
but for a little while

my pet Eastern Blue-Tongued Lizards died, they were ill placed in the sun out of ignorance and perished
