I was blind ...

I was blind and could not see

I was blind and could not see;
All that time, you were all blood and flesh here near by me
I hold you as the sweetest memory
And in my soul…
I must have cut your name a thousand times
onto the walls of eternity
All cute and lonely…

I was blind and could not reach…
Your eyes that looked as diamonds onto me
Till your soft and tender hands reached for me
Light was nothing but a mere word to me
Till you came by
As ever nice and comely
Then a new meaning was born in me
I could pretend to have many a friend
But you seem to be the one and only
I have walked down the streets to see faces, so many
Faces…I used to see
They are all strangers to me, but you…
I swear I must have lied to everybody
However, I never could lie to me…
The garden we used to walk into has ceased to be
Yet your return will make it
Rise up again from the pangs of agony…
Yeah, now and ever it turned all new to me

I was lonely and sad as you left the playground
That your smiles used to fill in the skies
And the air I breathe is full of scent and fragrance
That kept coming into my memory…
I am a bad liar as you can see
And all I could tell you,
were but sweet lies sincerely
That you will believe,
As they are all contrived by me…

  • This poem is ...

most interesting and has made note of a special awareness for love! I do question the flipping around between the 'tenses' though and had to read and reread it several times. I did like the expression "sweet lies sincerely" and think that if you would edit this and maybe try to omit unneccessary words that this would make a poem that many could identify with. joy
