Listen to the silence
As the sun ducks beneath the horizon,
Hiding its face before the moon
Can so much as glimpse its neighbor.
Reacting to the flames of your fingers,
Your touch is just the catalyst one needs
To send my mind in a tailspin.
I'll never know another magic to possess me like this.
Sweet dreams have been woven
By the simplest caresses you've freely given.
Summer is the time for sleep and sleep I do
Just to feel the warmth of your skin on mine.
Oh the memories of what has been and never will be.
It's a shame that my dreams are so finite
And an even greater shame that my time with you is too.
I miss those moments I cherished so much as I lay beside you.
They say we shall last forever and our love shall never die.
Others say forever never comes around.
I know our feelings for each other are boundless,
But I can never rid my eyes of the bleary and dreary images of past nightmares.
In the night I see everything
Clearer than I ever saw in the day.
I won't give in to the sun's rays or the moon's beams.
There's just us and our wish for forever.
The sun hides from the moon in the twilight hour
When my summer dreams are most potent.
The memories of your fiery touch
Are just a glimpse of my hope for a forever that will one day come.
Author notes
I tried to make this as haunting, interesting, and romantic as a nonromantic darkling possibly can. I wanted to combine all of the prompts...just to see what I could create. Consider it my own personal word gumbo
.
