Through the meadow a deer jumps
Over the grass like a rabbit goes
Into the woods where danger lurks
Some say it has its perks
With this in mind the hunter goes
He goes on to find that he is lost
Soon the hunter becomes the hunted
The haunted hunter of his past
He sees the torture he has caused his prey
He kneels down and begs for mercy
Mercy is only given to those who have earned it
A voice said coming from nowhere
The hunter calls out “WHO IS THERE?”
There is not a soul in sight
The hunter calls again but no one answered
He starts to shiver in fear thinking what is going on
What is happening now?
He starts to walk through the woods keenly
Watching his back he sees a shadow
Readies his bow and finds his mind playing tricks on him
What is becoming of them the food I kill to stay alive the hunter says
Shadow races behind him again
Pacing back a few steps the hunter is still in fear
The voice says you there must be afraid of your own shadow.
The hunter replies no I am not afraid of anything come out now and fight if you dare
A voice speaks again “ not afraid then why are you shaking, are you cold”
I am fine the hunter says
He gets his knife out for defense
Oh please says the voice I am not here to fight, but to help you
HELP ME RUBBISH you have been nothing but a voice trying to scare me.
The call of the voice says what makes you think I am trying to scare you.
Hunter is silent and says nothing
So predator how does it feel to be this close to death?
Death (huff) is that a threat
No it is a promise if you do not leave this forest and my creatures alone
Ok I will leave but before I go please give me your identity
I am none other then your self-conscience.
The man thinks to himself it is really the spirit of these woods.
He leaves and that is the last you will hear of a voice haunting those woods.
