Morning skies overcast
so dark
no need to close
the blue, pink-flowered curtains
as I snuggle under a silky sheet
covered by a patchwork quilt
and the pitter-patter
of soft rainfall
on the tin roof
soothes my soul
eases me into a peaceful sleep
I wake mid-afternoon
with a few rays of sunshine
peering through the clouds
peeking in my window
as the local high school marching band
is practicing
parading down my street
and for a moment
a joyful noise
tickles my sorrow
and fills my empty
Gratitude
puts my pain
on hold

I like!
Vivid, up front imagery, subtle metaphors painted in, like the dark clouds in the first line. Great write!
