Respite

Morning skies overcast
so dark
no need to close
the blue, pink-flowered curtains
as I snuggle under a silky sheet
covered by a patchwork quilt
and the pitter-patter
of soft rainfall
on the tin roof
soothes my soul
eases me into a peaceful sleep

I wake mid-afternoon
with a few rays of sunshine
peering through the clouds
peeking in my window
as the local high school marching band
is practicing
parading down my street
and for a moment
a joyful noise
tickles my sorrow
and fills my empty

Gratitude
puts my pain
on hold

Such Simple Words Can Have Such An Immense Impact. This poem exudes feeling. Also, it provides a wide array of visual stimulus. This offers a myriad of enjoyment for those persons who are capable of using their imagination.

    I like!

Vivid, up front imagery, subtle metaphors painted in, like the dark clouds in the first line. Great write!
