Teeter-Totter

A sickening "up-and down" cycle
Digging yourself deeper with every descent
And farther from me into this pit we've made.

It's raining up here. The sky, like me, has lost her sun.
Around the world. He'll be back and the day will be warm again.

Acceleration. There's no way to get off this ride.
No matter what you do, I fall. I've let myself get too high.
The safety net is gone. The ground is hard and uncaring
Still no closer to you.

This was kind of spur of the moment. Needs some work, maybe (definitely), but welcome to my mind at 1:30 a.m!

Nice write. The beginning of the poem reminded of something I once heard in a speak. The speaker was pointing out that there are ups and downs in life, and one should not get depressed if they find themselves in a "down." The goal though, is to make the downs not quite as far down and not quite as long as the previous down.
