It hurts to love,
but even more to know
that we are unloved.
We open our souls,
in hopes someone to respond,
yet get pulverized in the action.
So, I'll ask you once more,
"will you take the heart I offer
or
will you leave me forever standing?"

I totally agree with the sentiment in the first stanza... to not be loved hurts more than love ever could. Nicely said.
