a dead stair?
stairs don't die
I'm made of wood
If I died, I died with the tree that fell
In the wilderness somewhere
years before this house was built
a dead stair?
in a dead house
that housed a person now dead
even ghosts don't like me
because they no longer have feet
...
they can fly.
stare at this dead stair
stare at it there...
you'll go cross-eyed
waiting for me to move
if I was never alive
how am I dead?
stairs don't know sadness
but I'm supposed to be sad?
I'M A STAIR, DAMN IT!
I'M A STAIR!

This made me smile. This is a great little poem and has fantastic imagery and a lovely pace to it.

Ooh very nice visuals written here.
A truly original piece of poetry,
and a different spin on the prompt;
I really like it. I felt a touch of humour
here as well, and after reading so many
sad & depressing writes, it was good
to read the irony in this
Excellent job!
Best of luck & thanks for entering
