Meet Your Wife (Before you lose her)

When I married you I thought the term was wife not life
I entered a partnership not a dictatorship
You took me for granted became lazy
Stopped working at our relationship
Stop looking wounded and sorry for your self
I am out of love with you right now but still your wife
Feeling undervalued forgotten I'm in your background
Take a look at me
Who am I
I am the part of life’s puzzle that you took apart
The part that was left over when you reassembled it
You cannot see the place that I fit
I am illogical to you
Yet I am fact
I may know you better than I know myself
For what I like today I may not tomorrow
I am many and never one thing at once
What chance do you have when I am your
Mother, daughter, sister, wife and sometime lover
I am methodical, fussy and thorough
I defy you to totaly understand me
For I am a woman
I will never fit neatly into any box
Take me as you find me
A puzzle never to be fully worked out
I have changed I am changing
Changed from you and you have failed to notice
Believe me I am a woman, your partner, your wife
Remember this
There would be no you without me
Open your eyes wake up and see
Manoeuvre, return
Come rediscover me

Author notes

For Lorraine.

Inspired by a poem by Marta 'Puzzle Woman!' My wife loved this but then she was worried that i had sussed her out.

I may not be the best husband in the world at times, but i do recognise i may have the best wife in the world!

This wonderful, especially coming from a man. It takes a lot of guts to admit that one is not always at their best. I applaud you for this. Best of luck in my contest.

I can relate to this... only this is my dad who does this... he tries to run mine and my mom's life...a nd even my fiance's life, which I think is bs. He talks of building a "kingdom" well he's not going to do that unless he can stop being a dictator and actually act like he cares about us... and everyone else. I mean, he puts us down, especially me... because I got pregnant before I got married... he says I'm immorral and all this crap. Sure, I did make some mistakes, but that doesn't make me a bad person like he says I am... ok I'm done with the rant, on the the poem. Very nicely written poem. I loved it. thankyou so much for entering it in my contest. keep up your great work snd best of luck!!!!!!!

This poem has created some evocative feed back each time it's been aired. Is it too honest?

Thanks, Gypsy. I hope you don't mind the informal.

I read your Profile. That took some time but i must say you tell it as it is. That counts for loads to me. Just tell the story it don't matter about the technical stuff, grammer and all. As long as the story comes through. A review from somebody like you means a whole lot more than somebody,Quote... with an alphabet after their name.
      Mant thanks.
