The Fight For Freedom

Born into this broken world,
My skin as dark as coal,
Black and white is all they see,
As they rip and tear my soul.

I see a man,
He stands great and tall,
“I have a dream” he once had said,
These word of his shall never fall.

They say he died,
A shot through his heart,
He had a dream for equality,
They say is soon to start.

These rips and tears in my soul,
I know they’ll never heal.
These rips and tears in my soul,
My children I hope will never feel.
