Farmer's note to his wife

Please forgive me for the field
That shall no crop this harvest yield
And for the roof left un-repaired
Don't think it's that I never cared
But I must go, to serve my king
I shall be back, perhaps in spring
Or in the summer, or the fall
I guess that's if I come at all
For war can be a deadly game.
But I shall try; you do the same.
Be safe, be strong
So we may meet again.

This is great. It captures the imagination of life hundreds of years ago with out the trouble of reading historical documents. That probably sounds weird but I love thinking about the past, I just can't stand the royalty focus of normal history. Like it! Thanks for sharing.

Thi is great! I can't write about kings, queens & of any century before my time, the words just never come out right, but your flow was perfect and it was a great little story wrapped in rhyming paper!

I like the way you write! I can't wait to read more from you!

Thank you. I got lost in a fantasy novel a long time ago...

My body eventually found its way out, but my mind's still stuck there. Every so often it meets someone interesting and this happens. My fingers get extremely upset over all the forced typing, but my nervous system just tells them to "shut up".
I'm glad you liked it Also, I love the phrase "Rhyming paper" that just sounds incredibly awesome.

  • Just leave it as is. Awsome write. So much feeling and truth. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Do not revise

This poem is fine as is. The last 2 lines flow purposely awkward. Well done.

      Oh..umm..thanks.

Yeah, the last two lines would be staying as is...I'm just thinking of adding more to the rest, I dunno. More back story, I suppose.
      Anyway, thanks for the comment^_^
