we share the deluxe version
of sensual touch & eye contact:
xenophobia lectures us-
no, missy, a couple hours
of studying what others waste months on
will not cut it.
mister, why did you visit
a peasant girl from country poverty,
country greedy-women, country
stripes&stars-deserves-better?
young lady, how did you think?
we have bright here too.
gentleman, remember miss universe
and do a simple black and white
comparison --
how could you decay to this
from most-powerful-in-the-world?
fear cuddles at my feet, too,
like a cat who senses ill spots
and loves the house, not the master-
flight is for the strong
and home sickness, not for the faint-hearted.
what to do on top of a skyscraper
if he watches you with lukewarm eyes
hoping he’s not the reason for your final jump?
where to go
in a world to which you’re allergic?
whom to turn to
in a place you feel criminal
before anyone complains in the slightest?
logic grabs an ax
and rips me to sawdust-
what the fuck do you think you’re doing, kiddo?
and you, sir, are you blind
to the big-font letters shadowed between the lines?
it can’t be happening
in the century of product surveys and scanning items.
optimal choice is the only choice;
heaven? a haiku-long disadvantage list.
our love is the bonus track
on deluxe dvd:
we search the forest floor
for a lost penny
to afford renting it for the week.
