listen -
out of silence
unblinking eyes scan existence
and evidence of life for a day-to-day hum
it grows at the pace of walking,
against in the lurch and pitch
of hauling turmoil, scraping by
hear industry’s clicks and clangs
as they vibrate in waiting waves
over mound and plain, broadcasting
destiny’s burden -
in rhythm to a believer’s hymn
all the while resistance rings, protesting
like a blacksmith’s forge
in search of meaning lost between all the noise

Reminds me of the assertion in sci fi spacial encounters that humans are 'not mature' enough to play in space as full members...
