There are those who mask true selves
beneath clever disguise,
yet those who get to know deep down
see falsity in those eyes.
Acquaintances are many
chasing life just for each day,
and friends know that these actions
of self esteem that's been betrayed.
For trust is all but dead and gone
and friends see such contrast,
they can't condone behaviours
brought on by a saddened past.
Whilst deep dislike will linger
understand
true friends count on one finger.

Wow, I can see this. A sad, and frightening situation to find yourself in. You have such a nice way of exploring life and relational situations. So nicely done here.
