(i)
And she is coughing up
lies she can’t seem to digest.
Shadows are lurking
In the cracks of the sun,
And she is blinking
With frantic motion
Wishing the world
would just
Stop.
+
(ii)
It’s slightly cold,
And she’s hugging her jumper;;
But it smells nothing of
Him.
+
(iii)
She is considering why they call it
Truth
When really it is only
Reassurance.
+
(iv)
as the static in the radio
Serenades her to sleep tonight,
She’ll leak emptiness from her eyes
Only to be replaced
By hope.
And she knows
That’s so much worse.
+
(v)
Rocking.
With lost prayers
Coating her quivering lips
She fumbles with glinting silver in her palm
Then injects atoms of compassion
to her wrist.
+
(vi)
Shaking,
She has committed
The most desired crime.
she has turned broken
into beautiful.
So why
Does she feel
So god damn
Horrible.
+
(vii)
And she can’t understand
How she could fall
One
more
time.
+
(viii)
There are confessions
Slipping from her tongue.
Her face
Is nothing but
Misery and regret.
He leans
And her nose is filled with scents of
Disappointment.
She shudders at what his next
sentence will be.
With a faint watermelon,
She tastes the first of his
Conclusions.
They hurt.
+
(ix)
She is staring
At the broken mirror.
Dirty stalls and splinted eyes stare back.
Wiping
Teardrops from her shoulder,
She tries her best to ignore
His words.
=
(x)
Failure
works it’s way through the air.
And she is beginning to realise,
He was right
All along.
