He was laying there on the ground
with his hand pressed against his side.
He had been hit.
The enemy was close.
Blood mixed with dirt and sweat.
Energy was pumping through his viens.
And out on to the unpaved ground.
Colors danced all around him
They reminded him of all the fireworks
He used to love watch as a boy.
But now he was a man.
And he was ready to die for his country.
And he wasn't afriad to.
As he faded into the cold darkness
His mind drifted back to many years ago
When everything was simple
And all the free people would celebrate that.
With candy
games
carnival rides
music
and fireworks.
What wonderful fireworks.
All the beautiful greens
reds
purples
and blues.
How they mixed together into something amazing.
And then everything was still.
Everyone went home.
With a sense of patriotism.
And love for the fellow man.
Which was the feeling he had in those last moments of life.
As he was leaving this world.
He was finally going home.
Where there were no wars.
No fighting.
Only love.
And he will be remembered.
