Home Away From Home

A peaceful village atop a windy mountain,

my heart races as I gaze,
upon
the fountain of youth.

Created by my imagination,
through music
she loves me,
and I, back.

This paradise,
away from the paradise in my mind,

where love is shared
in this country abode,

Love is harvested like crops in the fields,
just like the prairies.

The sky is filled with light
and my pain
is set free.

When I arrive here,
my people smile back at me,
I see my home,

my home away from home.

So peaceful I am
to be back once again,

among my secondary family,
my secondary friends.

Their music continually bends and shapes my mind,

injects me with imagination,
until there is nothing more to find.

Our food is divine,
the water so pure,

the lovers in bed
do all but allure.

They are chased like rabbits,
the men,
seen as the dogs.

For now
I must leave,
this isolated place,

the others
they try to take my place,
in life, in death.

Lasting awhile, but never finishing,
punishing myself,

For they prevent
me to live my life,

the way I want.

Sinning yet loving,
this place
so calm.

Their emotions run through me,

mixed within,
like rubble
in a storm.

Author notes

In this poem I am describing the village in one of rushes song titles, the way
that i think Alex Lifeson would have.

this poem is derrived from the song "La Villa Strangiato"
