Camera Wheat

Missing image
Her name was Melissa and she woke up every morning to a cat named Boo and cold showers because she couldn't stand anything hot. She ate Trix cereal for breakfast and then went to the park to take photographs because no one was there at five in the morning besides people {whodidnthavealife} like her. She used her camera to capture love and death and life and happiness because they were all foreign things to her.

When she was finished she would go back to her apartment and eat more Trix and love on her cat, because he was the only companion she has had in two years. She doesn't think about sterling silver eyes, milk skin, or raspberry lips; names these days are taboo. So she finishes up her morning with a hot shower to remind herself of who she is, and she leaps into her memories for a split second just so she can take a picture of the Nebula's in his eyes.

When she finally sits down at her desk to upload the pictures she find that maybe today she should take the day off; so she puts on her coat and gives Boo some more food before taking her camera back to the park. She doesn't take pictures, she just sits and stares at the small pond remembering.

He leads her into the depths of the field, her camera in his hand and the click, click, click as he takes picture after picture. The wheat felt like thousands of tiny hands caressing her skin and the way his eyes were lit up and his lips pulling into a smile...it made her think that she should have been taking pictures of him.

Melissa opened her eyes to the pond but everything was blurry.

If she concentrated enough, she could close her eyes and feel the wheat on her skin.
