Fly said the Eagle, fly if you can
Then pushed him right out of the nest
And he flapped and he flapped
As his little heart raced
He was out on his first major quest
He cried as he fell with the ground coming up
And he spread out his talons to slow
He flapped those wings hard
As he plummeted down
To the rising ground waiting below
As the first rush of wind
Filled the feathers so full
He felt himself climb up once more
And into the sky he did rise like a king
Just to find that freedom to soar
Now beauty abound is what he did see
As the air just carried him high
And with every small turn
That he made from then on
Made his father let out a great sigh.
You have done it my son
You have taken the steps
To fly above our Mother Earth
And pleasures to see as you fly there so free
Is all that we wanted from birth
Be strong little eagle
Let your eyes show you all
Let the wind be your guide evermore
Just travel and find the wisdom from all
As you fly from the land to the shore
Your future is bright
As you’ll soon see in time
And all men will be taken in awe
As they see you fly in the clear blue above
And you ride the wind without a flaw
Yes proud we are son
that you’ve managed all this
And the first push was all that you needed
And when your children come with your new mate to be
All these lessons will be superseded

i do believe this is one of the very best you have written...it takes me on a soft journey from a fathers love to his eagle sons first flight to becoming his own...lessons learned and a new flight has begun...just beautiful! and deserving of the GOLD

This is super amazing. It looks like you did not have any problem capturing the rhythm at all. Brilliant versus followed through from my own and fitted so well. I love the story you gave this. Thank you so much for entering and the very best in the contest.

Just perfect. I was pleasantly surprised by this, how much more you carried it on with and all so fitting. I don't see how this can be surpassed, well not in my opinion. Lovely, well done.
