I have been thinking
about hope and faith
in part they are different,
yet alike in other ways.
To have any belief's,
I feel
one needs to have a belief in them all,
even if it is only to just keep an even keel
between all of them.
My present thought about "faith" is,
faith has only two sides, "a yes or a no",
one might have a strong faith,
but they sometimes forget
the faith in which they seek answered
its very response back, could be a No!,
not always is it going to be a Yes.
My present thought about "hope" is,
hope has three sides,
"yes... maybe... no...",
one might have a undecided hope
hinging on the "maybe" first,
that it could go either way,
but knowing the outcome could be a yes or a no.
Faith, we most times seek for the impossible,
and get disappointed when it is possible, told NO.
Faith, is too I feel is a belief we cling to
when we have no other emotions to lean on.
Hope, is like asking without demanding,
one knows it could be a yes,
a no, or a maybe down the line.
Hope, is too I feel is a belief we rely on
allowing us to be more acceptable to an outcome.
I feel if one knew death was near,
they would gather up their faith
to become more acceptable to death,
why have faith one is going to live longer,
when one knows the order is death.
Having hope in times of dying
is where one asks graciously for a little more time,
to right wrongs, say goodbyes
and experience a few more wishes
before their breathe is taken from them...
I feel...
If I was wanting a diamond ring for Christmas,
I think, having hope will answer me quicker
than having faith to bring forth me that ring,
that does not mean I will be getting it,
but the thought of it,
keeps me happy and not to disappointed.

Author notes
I am not saying or proving rights and wrongs in either belief, just thoughts, which could very well change tomorrow....
ps... I am hoping to buy the ring myself,
just waiting on the bank loan. (ha ha)

"I do hope I have enough faith to get me through this day."
That creates a mighty conundrum. I'd have to agree with your definitions of hope and faith. I know so many who think they go in hand, but, to me, they've never been synonymous with each other. I like the pointedness in this as it holds no shadows of what-ifs. There is a nice weaving of themes here, too.

It was my pleasure.

You were in a thoughtful mood when you penned this my friend. I like questions. Without questions 'faith' is a blind lumbering beast that tramples everything in front of it. Always ask the questions my friend... and yes... always hope.

PS.... i think and feel that hope is more realistic than faith is...
