to a river's soul

where i feel you end
you are beginning

bands of blue,
deep greens
golds and a hue of rose

you yearn for the stretch of horizons
want both at once
a want of everything
all at once

waters extremes are not so difficult
the middle is my puzzle
here in the midst of a midsummer storm
everything is enabled

meaning; never will life end

how will i leave you here
flowing through this morass
the glade of wizened trees
singing blooms and fresh breezes

dreaming as you do
holding the weep of trailing willows
triumphant to the discovery of me

the fire of the midday sun will not still you
i will watch your soul go on forever
by my garden's border
beneath your guardians of burning maple trees

an epoch of mastery
is the appearance of god's reflection in your waves
long before he takes possession of your heart
