The smell of grapes
Reminds me of the time
We snuck off to the bathroom
To hide our tinder, touching lips
From the judging world
And the fruit-scented perfume you always wore
Danced into my nostrils
And filled my brain
The smell of grapes
Reminds me of the dress
You wore that night,
Purple and jewel encrusted,
And the way it hugged your thighs
In the most perfect manor
The smells of grapes
Reminds me of the way we danced
So close and so genuinely
Holding each other gently
As your scent swam around us
And I was wrapped up in
Everything that you were
The smell of grapes
Reminds me of our late night
Meetings in our best friend's kitchen
Where instead of searching for snacks
We spent our time giggling
And hugging
And kissing
Next to the fruit bowl
The smell of grapes
Reminds me of the day
I broke both our hearts
When I told you and I told myself
That it could never be
No matter how hard we tried
And you cried and you pleaded
And the only thing I could focus on
Was the heat expelling from your body
Causing the most beautifully saddening scent,
The smell of grapes
Author notes
Ooohh man.

Awww, this was beautiful!! you have a lot of talent, and this poem was a great read!! I like that you used "the smell of grapes" all throughout, and at the very end. Perfect!
