at twilight...
when you are cold, the sound
is like a plea; warmth eludes
it rests somewhere within
'til tentative touches
neck to core
begin to arouse the temper
the body begins to bend and answer
to yield its sweetness
to make air sing
and the air touches ear and heart
nerves spark and sinews move
when you warm
to dance in that space after hearing,
where i savor drops of time,
resonant tones fill moments, crowd the senses.
The night falls all around
and the bed becomes restless
in rise of moon and window glows,
smoke and wine blend like spices
then an end, all too soon
but already, anticipation
how slow the night finishes even in sleep
to a snail-paced day, as coils unwind,
at twilight...

lovely words about my favorite instrument:
"to make air sing
and the air touches ear and heart
nerves spark and sinews move"
I loved these lines.
Liked the beginning and ending as repeating of the same line.
wonderful poem

"to make air sing"... so love that line and where it took my mind. yes, indeed.. music is the poetry of the air and here you've given it body and voice. something so very laid-back about this guitar poem of yours... beautiful.

It’s been too long since I have visited your page and for that I’m truly sorry. I think that you are of the top free verse poets on this web site as this poem proves. Perhaps I’m intimidated by the perfection you pen in contemporary poetry for you truly are an artist. I hope to be able to pen free verse poetry like this someday and if I do, it’s because I have learned from AP poets like you.
Love,
Amera♥

I enjoyed this ...
rendition and how true to tone it is ... To me there is nothing finer than what you described and add to this a small group of talented musicians and the moon may not set. Very nicely shared. joy
