Drowning Quietly

I’ve watched you drown for a year now,
And though you smile and say its better,
I know you’re still gasping in that midnight ocean.
It’s not your fault, I am told over and over,
And I understand, I really do,
But I long for the old days, the old days when you were you,
And the world was simple.

I am so so so sorry that I blame you,
And I know you blame you too.
But it feels like you drove him out, so it would just be us and you.
You just don’t seem to realize,
That I’ve learnt partly from watching you,
You’re too caught up to notice,
That now I’m drowning too.

What did you think
