Eternal Tree

She stands in the open air
Arms reaching for the sunlight
He sleeps in a fated church
Hoping the light will find him
Through small windows
And symbols and crosses
She breathes the light
And her children are made of her

He prays to the lord
Hoping someday to see
She stands in his light
The life giving light of love
And he wonders why
In his towers of faith
Why she chose to stand
In the gaze of nature

The food of love to the sacred tree
Nourishes the land and all around
He cannot see
In closed wooden doors
No cross nor prayer can tell
No nature shall be allowed within
No birds nor grass nor leafy tree
Shall give him the light of love

Enlightenment comes, but how can you see
If walls and doors and windows
Hide you from the sunlight
And keep you in the dark
No sacrifices made here
It’s all free my love all free
And she reaches for the light
And it gives her life

And no one knows where the roots run
To what inner worlds they reach
Surface pleasures are unsubstantiated
As the subconscious takes its fill
Where do those roots go that carry the light
Sacred and pure
To the underworld, to the inner planes
To bring the light to the darkness

To sacrifice upon the sacred tree
To become adored by those of faith
Oh the life of the lost ones
Brought to listen, to hear stories of death
Yet outside the windows and doors
Stands eternal life, eternal tree
Kept alive by the light of the Sun
Forever
