The Love That Could Not Be

I was the leper of this flock
it was so hidden it could shock
The time was early spring
but the birds would not sing
it was her that I needed
perhaps my ambition was conceited

There were those who hated me
could they sense what I wanted to be?
She and I developed an affection
but others plotted deception

winter came upon us all
and life itself began to fall
her blood fell on my shirt pocket
murder, they did commit

I held her as she lay dying
but now was no time for crying
revenge for my love I seek
though success be bleak

I run after them with all I've got
It is for her; I fought
their shot rings loud
but of my attempt, I am proud
my dear, I will see you very soon
I lay here dying, under this full moon

Author notes

Just a concept I had that I put into a poem.
