Watching it

Everything had stopped until I realized,
After sipping my drink that it wasn't everything
that has stopped but me that had stopped.
And everything that was in motion was pausing
to be noticed by me.
Everything just flew around doing its thing
until I saw it,and then it had a direction
and I could convince myself or somewhen else about
a reason.
From this perspective of stillness.
I saw the largeness of the smallest changes.
Sipping my drink and observing the things that
paused under my attention.
Being and becoming the point in the abyss
I had no choice but to proceed
To be or to be not?
What?to another broken mirror.
Stillnes I thought was a way to let other people
break everything I hate.
Since everything paused under my attention
awaiting an explanation to its why.
I got to learn alot about stillness
and why there is no rest for the wicked.

there is much hidden in stillness

I had no choice but to proceed
To be or to be not?

To be or not to be , that is not the question
    Thich Nhat Hahn.

you write of the silence we all endure, and think no one else has ever felt

this IS quite abstract, and I'm not surprised Haygood wondered if it addressed the contest issue here... so... as any abstract piece, I must come back a few times until I 'see' something... so until then... but then, I could derive my own interpretation related to the contest's matter (that of a love-dead marriage and the prospects of thinking beyond it by having an affair)... and so I shall make my first stab at deriving a relevant interpretation...

sipping a drink... stopped, everything was in motion and paused at the same time... then flying around... then with direction... then with a reason... stillness and heightened perception... sipping the drink again... to be another broken mirror... other people breaking things I hate (with me, it is what I love)... giving a 'why' to everything... learning about stillness... no rest for the wicked...

Ah ha! .........so it is in stillness that my affair will ever haunt me... (and ruin my political career)... lol

That is my official interpretation (and it wasn't easy!)

three claps for entering and making me derive my own interpretation, for it was vague enough to allow for that...

Captured: The moments before a big decision

"From this perspective of stillness. I saw the largeness of the smallest changes." These lines really stood out for me. I think this is why in any school of moral teachings it is stressed that honesty and purity in the smallest of things is as critical as in the huge. You captured the power of stillness, in a "nothingness" of activity having the capability of changing your whole life. Your last line is profound, in the sense that the wicked often have all the materialistic and "fun" things that they want in life, but cannot find peace in stillness.

What did this have to do with the contest?
