His iron cauldron, deep and wide, is the world;
lips twisted in a lascivious grin as he stirs
a thick concoction of lies and abominations,
flickering flames mirrored on wolfish fangs
as his vile brew oozes over its rim of deceit
to create a boiling black cloud upon Fir Tree Park—
a pretty name for such an ugly place.
What's in a name for such as Satan loves?
A place I shall not leave alive with just my lungs scorched.
Its air is thick and hot with the smoke of wickedness,
roofed in acrid tar, floors of red-hot coals,
bloody nails hold up moldy lies for its pretend walls;
rusty pipes drip prophets' blood at this House of Horrors—
a fitting name for such an ugly place.
Amidst the maelstrom I sought at least one,
one whom yet I might be able to snatch from the fire;
but, they all are drunk on prophets' blood and can't hear me
as their blind lead the blind to pits of fire
through twisting winds howling obscenities against God
'neath Satan's caustic roiling black haze at Fir Tree Park—
a pretty name for such an ugly place.
Could just Fir Tree Park be in such darkness?
Alas, raging storms and screeching winds encompass earth,
Christ's sheep vastly outnumbered in this dangerous clime:
those twice dead curse God by blaming His few
for earth gone barren, a dusty wasteland by man's hand;
her name no more the beautiful Garden of Eden—
a pretty name for such an ugly place.
Author notes
As most of my friends know, Fir Tree Park Apts has been a 2-yr and ongoing nightmare for me. Once again, I have been lied about: no surprise, just frustrating. Please continue to lift me up in prayer. ~~BonnieQ

Wow!
Two trophies for this write in a short span of time.
This is intense & written with power and angst!
The visceral nature of your words come through clearly and lend to a dark and disturbing pix. I was just going to ask you where you got that horrific picture & see it was the prompt.
You certainly can come up with some strong imagery & content. And to think...ppl don't think Satan or his demons are real.
Bravo for this dear one & I pray
that things will get better for you in your house of horrors.

Thank you, dear Kath. You know this is a departure for me in that I usually write in rhyme. By doing free verse, it forced me to think in terms of metaphors and visuals, etc. I wrote a follow up to this in free verse: "Black Roiling Clouds." I don't recall why I did not rhyme both, but the Bandits' Contest required free verse, so I thought "okay, I try it again."

Luv ya, SisBon

Thank you, sweetie, for finding the poem worthy of Bronze! This is the first time ever I've had a poem with two trophies! I'd best hang onto my head or I'm apt to begin thinking I'm really a poet!

Much love & hugs, BonnieQ

satan in his last efforts to prove that no one can love and obey God has taken on a feeding frenzy and because he is losing his battle, his attacks are more viscious. his servants are more to follo his commands, but without the realization that God's servants are more vigilante. satan has no win, but he will fight to the end.continue to walk the path of righteousness and G od will continue to be your protector. you are in my prayers.

You are always in my prayers and will remain so! As for this piece, it is stunning, incredible and so true. Such an accurate account and great take on the pic! This is what I was looking for exactly! Thanks for entering and best wishes,

That's sad Bonnie. I will certainly keep you in prayer. Can't imagine why anyone would want to complicate your life like this. God will bless you.

Thank you, dear brother, for the prayers and encouragement. I was unfortunate enough to have a raging drunk move in above me right after I moved here. Her M/O is to attack before attacked and to go after the person most likely to cause her the most trouble with management. Naturally, that is me; albeit, I've done nothing to cause her trouble. At any rate, some of the things she has done are simply insane: yesterday, she went to management and complained that she had a confrontation with me the day before. I have not spoken to this women in eons, muchless seen her, and she knows better than to come to my door-- she's the one who assaulted me last year.
At least as a psychotherapist, I know what I'm dealing with; but, at this point, I am physically and mentally exhausted. It is constant torment.
Again, thank you so much, dear one! Love & hugs, SisBon

You are in my prayers dear sister of mine. Be strong and keep your eyes focused on Jesus - the Author and Finisher of our Faith. In Him there is no fear for He is perfect Love. Be at perfect peace even as your body is in that hell hole. I am still praying for God to move you to a new and godly home.
Love and hugs always....

Thank you so much, my darling sister! As you know, I can use all the prayers I can get. That woman. . . well, all I can say is that she is pure evil. This time I was accused of having a confrontation with her on Tuesday. Naturally, I have nothing to do with her and haven't even seen or spoken to her in eons! No conscience and lies straight out of the pits of hell.
Tony couldn't understand why someone is doing these things to me, but I feel certain that you do. Satan really wants me dead but he has already lost the battle. Yoohoo! And, Jesus is about to get here. Come, Lord Jesus, Come!
Much love and hugs, SisBon
