.
when asked to sing
a song today
my heart
it skipped a hollow beat
seems the dreams
have all run away
‘cross time and media’s defeat.
I closed my eyes
to turn the key
mankind paused
full of ache and need
to hear a soul
remember thee
blue,
voiceless sphere
who feels your plead.
You give and give
as we just take,
bleed red suns in majestic pride,
mist the tree edged mountain lake;
we kill
and burn -
in smoke to hide.
I saw
a blade of grass cut steel
and heard
pine winds drown out a road
from sea to sea your pulse the keel
to guide the course of carried load.
There is no need
of us I fear
to reconstruct these wounds
and mend;
when our needs of you,
great and clear,
are meaningless chorus words
we send.
I want the world
to know your pain;
I want tomorrow’s
golden worth
to purchase
half the rights we claim
and plant them back
in planet Earth.

Very sad poem. While I don't agree with the message, you effectively made your point.
The verse was sharp and direct.

I wonder if mankind is even capable of putting back any of what has been taken from purity?
Wonderful rhyme from your pen and I love the way you have your layout move down the page with ease. You are truly an artist. So well done. ~Pamela
