Three Kings

When the King of Love was called up above
and Frank would no longer record.
We let out a cry and asked ourselves why
was he taken from us by the Lord.

Then the King of Rock had left us in shock
when he left the building forever.
For Elvis was kind and he helped us find
that his Rock would bring us together.

Now the King of Pop who rose to the top
has retired to a heavenly place.
It’s Michael we thank with Elvis and Frank
for the music we’ll always embrace.

  • The voices that live through time when we the listeners have moved on are truly what art and entertainment are all about.

For in the chase for fame so much is lost, the human side, the kinder and softer voice is squelched and what we see is the adoration of the masses who can but rely on thier trained ears for solace.

I truly feel for all those who suffer in thier existance and strife.

Very nice tribute. It reminds me of Abraham, Martin and John... (and Bobby)
    Only one King lives forever.

  • The rhyme is great and so is the subject.
It's a great tribute to The Kings of Music.

    Great job.

  • Good idea, comparing three pop icons. A cute and whimsical tribute to the icons. Bravo.

  • What a lovely ode to three icons of generations of music lovers. I feel redundant to say this but - excellent!

There's a party up in heaven
but the ticket price is high
    To enjoy the entertainment
you must be prepared to die

    John Lennon's due to open
    followed swiftly by the King
Michael Jackson has a small spot
    while Sinatra adds some swing

    A Hendrix instrumental's
sure have you on your feet
And if your choice is country
Johnny Cash can not not be beat

    Your host is Richard Pryor
just to help the evening flow
    His act's a little risqué
but it's all part of the show

It starts at half past seven
so to be part of this treat
You must be dead by ten past
if you want to get a seat

    Sorry about that Dancing Lady
    You just inspired the thought

    Excellent as ever

  • Lovely...

Clio, Euterpe, Erato and Terpsichore met in Helicon and sent essences of grace and love to the ink's jar of the author of "Three Kings" to record the celebration of the Three Kings ~ diffusing respect and sublimity through artistic lines in major art ~ made of words of gratitude.

My life time appreciation to the Quill of the author of "Three Kings" for showing us how to enrich The American Fine Letters.

    In respect and admiration,

    Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU
