Seeking Rest

I puffed up my chest like a spring songbird,
chirping my best love song to the world.

"Today, I can see the divinity in everyone.
No human being can deserve unconditional love,
there is no earning such a prize,
for it is not a merchant's ware.
It is a gift only, a blessing from on high
which I am shaken, baffled, humbled to receive.
Yet, I see that divinity completely
in the grace of your expressions
and the loving of your thoughts.
Respectfully, full of wonder and awe,
I have wandered waiting, waiting...
not knowing what I was waiting for.
Today, humanity is fully restored
and the wait is finally over for me:
I have found a true and honest heart."

To which she replied in an almost whisper...

"I love you for the same qualities you see in me,
as they are only reflections of you;
for if they did not exist in you
I would find no love."

Two little streams
stopped falling ever downward
and became an ocean.

I don't know what else to say to this other than

  • Awe-inspiring!!

Beautiful and romantic imagery!! It's great to see a good person who manages to find oneself within another, and it's great also that there are still two good people left on earth. I'm wishing you all the best in the contest, and keep your muses pen flowing, Poet!!
    Peace,
    xx Cyn xx

  • Thoughtful.

I see you put a lot of thought into your words. They have a lot of imagery in them. To feel that kind of love for someone is such joy. Unconditional love is what we really want the most in life but seldom does anyone find. That is the kind of love that God gives us all, and it is too bad we don't find enough of it today. I liked the last stanza very much, I can picture two becoming one as the rivers become the ocean. Well done.

What a beautiful expression of an eternal truth.

The love between two souls can only come to fruition if the flow of its shared rush is in the same direction, reflecting the same stars, moon and Sun.

A lovely parable, this write, and a timeless love story.

    Love
    Always Myra

ah love, the sweetest mystery of all

the true and honest heart being a reflection of the lover sings to me of Rumi, and the mystic Sufis who wrote with such passion of the beloved

Unique to your poetry the reader can feel the emotional passion that you spill on the page. This poem depicts the selfless love of the author with imagery and softness. I especially like the last and closing stanza which not only shows that two become one but by doing so they also become stronger.

    Love,
    Amera♥
