Open my eyes
So I can see
The pain that is hidden;
The pain that they hold;
The hurt that freely throughout their body flows.
Open my ears
So I may hear
The cries they cry out;
The cries oh so soft;
The voices at which so many of us scoff.
Open my eyes
To see instead
The acts as they are;
The acts we ignore;
The acts people never dare to explore.
Open my ears
To listen for once
To words unsaid,
To piches and tones;
To hear what they really want from us.
Open my mouth
So I may save
A child who's lost
In a world full of pain.
And give me the strength to do this again,
and again,
and again.
