Snafu

Driving East the rising sun
filled the barrel of my gun.
Terrain so flat there was no mound
to break the monotony around.
Running late I put on speed
there really wasn`t any need.
there was no sign of danger there
suddenly there was just the air.
The gunner yelled "Reverse you nut"
the empty feeling in my gut
replaced by an almighty bash
as nose over, down we crashed.
The gunner said "let`s fire the gun
to push us back from where we`ve come."

Author notes

For those of you who have forgotten or never knew the expression SNAFU. Situation normal, all fucked up.

Y'know it's funny. I looked in a dictionary from about 50 years ago. It HAD the word "Snafu" in it, but it was an acronym for "Situation Normal, All FOULED Up." I just thougth that was funny. When did it change?
