January Smile

A January smile
you gave to me
lost for a time
but never forgotten.

A heart beats a little faster
and it returns.
A single frame, in sepia tones
like a flutter
a trickle of fire
warming a shiver
drying a tear
calming a soul.

What did you think

  • a january smile, makes me think you like this month going from the first verse. to me personally it is a cold month. love speaks here, the heart picking up its rhythm, a single frame, a second, time can stretch a second or blow it away with ease, perception's way. and the ending, thoughts of a love now distant but not gone. a good poem.

I really like the image of the January smile beautifully done - and I think that some punctuation would make this really powerful lovely!

  • this has a real tone of introspection about it...I think that writing really serves us well in that way. Great job poet. keep up the good work. peace and light always in ALL ways, KP
