We are the broken ones
Whose bruises are black,
And whose cuts never seem to fade to scars.
Gaping and bleeding,
So that we appear
To have simply steeping out of a movie screen
That’s showing a zombie film.
Each blow destroys us
Each kick and obscene name,
Peels us away,
Layer by layer.
And each compliment is simply the slight whistle
Of leaves passing through the air before
They finally reach the ground.
We are one,
Seemingly a single entity,
Whose pain is unbearable,
Yet all the same,
It is not endured at all.
But some say
That it is us,
And only us,
Who can portray an accurate view
Of a crystal clear eye as a window into the world,
Not marked by blood,
But rather by change,
And fate and consequence.
We are just that,
And no more,
And with stone hearts,
We plunge into the most abominable depths.
What did you think?

"Each kick and obscene name,

Fantastic imagery right there; this whole poem was mesmerizing for me with it's stark, dark tale of raw reality
Very well done.
