Money Bags and Straw Purchases

all i did was ask for money
i don't like to steal or beg, norm'lly
but i'd noticed he had a rolex watch
and a slick black car in his garage.

so i figured that he
could spare a little
when i walked up to him
and i asked for a nickle

but he just spat on my feet
and told me the rudest thing...

he said: "i need a leech like you
like a hole in the head,"
so i pulled out my pistol---
and i shot him dead...

and i can't say that i regret a single thing.
(yeah yeah)

now i'm spending the rest of my life in jail
no electric chair, but i'm denied bail
and all i can say is i'm glad to be
on this... side of hell.

because outside o' here
it's a world of fear
where money controls a man's soul...

outside of here
it's a world of fear
where money controls a man's soul...

Author notes

Inspired by two Johnny Cash songs: Boy Named Sue (for rhythm) and Folsom Prison Blues (for the theme).
