Hesitation

butterfly kiss
presses lightly on sweat-drenched temple
lingering touch
floats uncertainly on suddenly dried lips

eyelashes flutter to a close

she likes to think
he hesitated.

I love how the last line completely changed the meaning of the poem. It was genius! Thanks so much for the entry! Beautiful in its brevity.

Aww, this is so sad, yet such beauty and imagery you captured.
    She likes to think
    he hesitated.
I can remember times in my life thinking the same thing coming up with suddenly dry lips.
    Very well penned.
Best of luck in the contest.
