Certain sounds or smells
Send me right back
To a time in my past
When my view was not black
When a sunny saturday was everything
Cos we could go to the park, ride the swing
School was hated and girls had daft rhymes
We'd play kiss chase on all of our playtimes
Safety was mum tucking me in at night
Kiss on the forehead and off with the light
Dad would let me stay up late to watch tv
While telling me how great I'd grow up to be
Friends were the world and meant they became brothers
Bullies were rare and seemed to pick on others
There are times it can make me cry
My heart is heavy and softly I sigh
I'd do anything to reclaim this time
And cannot do justice in a simple rhyme
Innocence lost can never be found
I love those certain smells or sounds

Oh, words cannot express how beautiful this poem was. Words just strike the centre of the heart. Children nowadays are so different, not as joyous as they should be, and are becoming more and more violent. I hope that will change.
A wonderful piece of poetry!
