'The Fly'

What is this stuff -
icey rain turned to snow
in the middle of March,
anyone know?

Just as my tanned knees
delight to go bare
that ol'crazy North wind
plain doesn’t care!

Nope-

it flips me off
with its whipping cold
kills the tulip
as it starts to unfold.

Tell me dear God,
is this only a test?
the plants are confused,
and I am a mess!

Won’t you send me
a sign that this
will end -
very soon before
arthritus sets in?

Uh oh-

but look!
there’s a fly on the door
and where there is one
there must be some more

O glory-
for once
though they come from decay,
this least favorite insect
has just made my day!

I know this is one of your older ones but I wanted to read it again and its to funny! How would a fly make your day? I guess
it can for the good because of springs arrival. Or it can be the icing on the cake as in hell in high water being enough. Thats when you throw the covers over your head say try again tomorrow dear friend (LOL) Love you lots, Me ♥ ♥

    Brava!

Oh! The end was just so perfect! We all despise the fly with it's humming, buzzing and just being its annoying little self. However, we all know that spring is coming when we see a fly and we enjoy its company for...say, maybe three minutes and then it goes SPLAT! Very funny! This was a wonderful write and THIS poem as just made MY day so thank you!

    Very light funny and entertaining!

Di-I thought when I popped in tonight!Something, light and humorous would do just fine! You and I see winter the same, my friend! I really enjoyed this shortie! Brought a smile to my face! We haven't any snow way up north. Enough patches of ice, slick as glass! Waiting 4 the older folks to bust a fanny or truly break something! We r walking cautiously around the place! Our temperatures have been yo-yoing around all winter between artic blasts, above normal thaws and seasonal. Getting dressed every a.m. is a crap shoot with the weather! A ranch/farm operation seems to have real flies, alive and well, even in the winter!(Full grown barn flies! I have no idea after 3+ decades, where they hide until temperatures suit them?) I chased 1 around the kitchen 2 nights ago, until totally fatigued! Fly poop on my walls and such, just doesn't cut it here! Finally, called in the big gun! Hubby Jim and his bright purple swatter! He relieved me of my pesty fly in less than 10 seconds! (Fly was cutting into his after supper, snooze and boobtube time on the loveseat!) Can he move, when it comes to his rest and retreat from reality time mode! i read your update homepage! Really enjoyed all you have done there! God Bless and thanks 4 sharing with me!

I like this one. I have now read several of yours and its my favourite. Of course, I am English and I am supposed to like talking about the weather! I also liked the form it was written in, simple and flowing, the only irregularity served to enforce the humour, it was nice not to be bogged down in totally irregular form and pattern.

    LOL and very funny/read

Sounds like you wrote about here? Snowing today, doves really confused. Geese don't know if they should keep going north or turn around and head south? Flies they never die! I kill one in here once in awile , after frost and before real spring. Spiders really decend in the fall when hay comes in. Forced Jim to start spraying inside and outside 2 x in late fall. We have to many barn cats, his pets to chase mice, like we once did. That and fox, owls, skunks, badgers will eat them. Our cats just play them to death. They eat Walmart canned cat food. Jim's gone soft in the head? Kids think, besides dry food. In fact, he's out feeding the 3 dz. rascals and doing p.m. chores. My sparrows still need little knitted sweaters today! LOL thaks alot! Very funny!

    wicked conclusion, cookie.
    beauty in decay, eh?
shows a true appreciation for life in all forms.

you didn't ask for critical.... but i'd like to say this just doesn't carry your general MasterMinded Intensity. then again, a deviation from 'weighty subjects' is probably most welcome in your eyes.
i'm very much impressed by the scope of material you've chosen to elaborate/commentate on.

Hehehe. I was wondering where you got that title, The Fly. As usual you have created a ten star write, even though I can only give you five. So old man winter is giving you a final blast? Me too. (do my eyes deceive me or did you do some rhyming up there?) You're very talented. I can just hear you reciting this piece, music, echo in the background. Wow.
