Rising up, inch by inch, flowing high to lap the edges
Of a porcelain being. Pour in these mistakes so vulgar,
Every bubble another reason to hate and be angry.
Inside you're keeping the darkest of materials,
You're in possession of the things that drain your life.
Your world is filled to the rim with resentment.
But one step into it, it's sure to overflow.
There's a limit to just how much
Can be held inside or kept against
The ghosts of past mistakes.
There comes a time for you to let go..
Pull the plug on your bottle of hate,
Open the lid of your box of anger,
Let bygones be bygones but don't forget
The hands on necks or words flying faster than fists.
It turns out the resolution is forgiveness.
Fear subsides and strength shines through.
The constraints are loosened, your spirit lifted
For in forgiveness comes freedom from the ghosts,
Those internal bruises aren't eternal.
You stop punishing yourself the minute your
Resentment is drained from your life.
Author notes
I actually got the general idea for this while driving today. Not sure if it's relevant, but I saw a cloud that looked like a dragon's head just before I thought of it. Haha. I'm a tart, I know. (:

I just read it again and you've made me cry damn it!!!

Well if it can make you cry it must be pretty amazing.
Thanks so much for such a kind comment

I'm a dragon! Well I was born in the year of the dragon and I breath a lot of fire when I want to. Holy fire I hope.
Your first line's an epic to the imagination in itself and your such a kick ass poet that you kept that standard up throughout the whole poem. When I read 'Pull the plug on your bottle of hate' I was thinking, 'Don't just pull the plug, empty it out', but you went on to explain exactly that.
Homage is due to such a wise poet!

I love this.
I'll probably come back and read it a lot more, it seems to help with what I've been experiencing lately

If just one person can relate to this, or if it helps with just one person, then I'm happy.
Thanks for the comment!

In that case,
Prepare for full on happy mode, it helped me

I really liked this poem. It gave me a very warm, releasing feeling though out with one exception. The 'don't forget' phrase gave me a little hesitation, but I think I understand what you are saying with it, now.
This line is dynamite:
Those internal bruises aren't eternal -

Thank you so much for the kind comment. Personally, I won't forget on purpose, however there's a lot of things that have slipped away in time that I'm not too sad about.
I believe in forgiving but not forgetting, but not holding grudges either. I've learnt that over time, anyway! Thanks again.
