Remnants

We're on opposite sides of the fence
And shall never reconcile again,
Memories are all that still remain
And memories are all we'll ever be

I'm not the one you're looking for,
Even though you were convinced I could be for a while
I awakened a side of you,you weren't aware existed
And I may be what you want, but am not what you need

And now you're blinded by emotion
You've done away with common sense
In return I feel I'm being smothered
I have no choice but to cut all ties,
If only to catch my breath!

Never shall we cross paths like this again,
Never again do I wish to hear your voice
And never again shall I scrutinize my choice,
For memories are all we are and ultimately,
All we'll ever be...

    My

Poet such finality in your words. But it seems well thought out and not destined for a tragic ending. Wise are the words and the mind. When it is over , be gone knave.

  • Ah Sad and final(GREAT)

Although sad I found this a wonderful poem to read, very good work.I think poets have a heart for a sad write!
