We became our own
Sat foot upon this land
and called it home

seventy six it be
The sacred year
we became free...

I like that it is concise, and delivers its message immediately, in a way that reminds people of what is important foremost ... the freedom of the people(s) of (and) their land.

Very simple take on the prompt. Your emotions were good in this and I liked the rhyme. Great job and good luck in the contest.
